Comparing Nuffnang and Advertlets Earnings

By arzhou | August 22, 2007

Noticed that some bloggers have been pointing out about their unhappiness with nuffnang ads or the lack of it.

So I will do a quickie comparison between nuffnang and advertlets and their earnings. Its probably been about 1.5 months since I had both nuffnang and advertlets up on this blog. Advertlets has about a 2 weeks headstart at most. Now I only got my nuffnang ad last week (a 1 week campaign). Well that campaign is already over and the earnings are reflected.

The key difference between how nuffnang and advertlet paying is that advertlets have ads from the moment you place the banner. Nuffnang, you got to wait a while before you get a campaign, ie: you do not have ads all the time.

So…. here is my Advertlets earning for about 1.5months:

advertlet earning

And here is my 1 week Nuffnang ad earnings(since the campaign is essentially 1 wk):

Nuffnang earnings

*All screenshots were edited to ensure they fit nicely into the blog

Hence as you noticed. I earned about the same from both services with about the same about of blog traffic.

Therefore:

1 week of Nuffnang on arzhou.com = 1.5 months of Advertlets on arzhou.com

Conclusion:

Nuffnang does pay better… way better… BUT…only if you do get the ads. Advertlets will ensure constant ads, but the payout is much lower. So why not just keep both ad services on your blogs? Make sense right?

Do note that I am comparing ONLY earnings via ads and not any other schemes that both services might have.

Well…. you are lucky because you got ads for nuffnang. If you are like the other bloggers who didn’t get any ads from nuffnang, then the score will be Nuffnang $0 – $7.46 Advertlets.

    I agree with DK.

I am not sure how long it will be till your next ads. If there’s constantly ads coming from Nuffnang, there will be earnings if there isn’t, it’s just taking space sitting over there.

I cannot be bothered about Nuffnang anymore. Primary reasons:

    1. Slow response.
I registered when I first had my blog on WordPress.com, and when I had to change the details of my blog when I moved out to my own domain, there was nothing on the management panel that allowed me to do that.

Emailed them about the change, and not a single word to acknowledge. About a month or more later, they finally said my new blog was approved.

And when I logged in, what do I see? Two blogs of the same name, one spelt a little differently from the other. So which am I to add the code to?

    2. No Ads
The model is kinda stupid, honestly. If you want people to register, just jolly well serve them ads instead of waiting for some ads to go through to them.

Some bloggers like myself basically see no ads coming and get discouraged. After awhile, we just drop the program altogether.

Conclusion: sorry, but Nuffnang’s model isn’t working for me, and I won’t count on it for any incoming moolah. Adsense does a lot better for me, albeit a little slower.

use nuffnang if you have constant new viewers of minimum 20 ppl viewing it. if not what e use?

Well, even if you have a minimum of 20 people viewing, you may not get ads from nuffnang. Thus even if you have at least 20 unique visitors per day, it doesn’t help much.

S-gal: actually i think they change liao no need minimum

But if you get ads, you get to earn alot from nuffnang.

Like I’m getting ads for the whole of august, so I’m a happy man. admittedly I’ve been part of it since may, and I’ve gotten like only 5 weeks worth of ads so far

advertlets is good too if you have a high web impression

advertlets however has payment problems … i cannot deposit their MY cheque in sg banks, kena reject by DBS

now have to return their cheque, so mafan. but when i email them where to send it to … no response as of yet. i emailing them again

i’ve yet to cash out on nuffnang, so dunno their payment but they’re earning me good money

Dude, try pushing your Advertlets ad higher up to increase your chances of getting ads.

But you’re right. I don’t see any reason why a blogger has to choose one, not both. As a publisher you want to earn money. Having more options is always a good thing.

Estee: You have to take note that you do have ads from nuffnang. If you were those who did not get any ads at all from nuffnang, then it will be different.

I think after looking though all these comments, one thing can be concluded, that Nuffnang definitely pays out better, but you have to be one of the fortunate few to actually get some nuffnang ads.

But still why not just put up both right? Might as well.

I am choosing one or two advertisers at most for a good reason. The blog is more for content, and it is ultimately content that brings in the traffic.

If people have to navigate through a ton of ads to get to the content then you’ll lose some of them rather quickly.

I’m making decent $ from AdSense (USD 20+ in about 2 months which isn’t bad in my books), and Advertlets pulls in decent as well. I am not wasting space for Nuffnang waiting for them to serve me ads.

Everything also got pros got cons.
I’m okay with people complaining/comparing but I hate those people who doesn’t put in much effort and expect many many things in return.. -.-

I’m not even talking about talent/popularity. Just pure hard work. I don’t earn a lot thru ads, but for the amount of effort I put in, I think it’s worth it. =)

I agree with UFC, you cannot just slap an ad unit on your blog and expect tons of money to flow in… or at least enough for some food. If the blog has low traffic in the first place, having advertlets or google adsense is also pointless cos you will be making like 1 cent a day? Like that use PPP better la

if your day job is blogging, it is a concern then.

if not, don’t depend much on advert companies. :)

not every blog will get nuffang ads.. i guess the advertisers would choose blogs that kinda suit their products. Anyway.. unless u have a high traffic blog then u’d prob. get a substantial amount from the ads . but at the end of the day..why are you even blogging? becoz u wanna earn a living out of it? then thats when the pay outs matter.

  22. arzhou Says:
    August 23rd, 2007 at 8:34 am

Well even though it is not our day job, it can still pay for the next plate of chicken rice =) But yea we should not be overly concern with how much payout we are getting.
